On Friday, July 23, 2022, the Kansas Chapter of the Federal Bar Association hosted a luncheon for a delegation of Mongolian Judicial Officials. FBA president-elect Ethan Lange spoke to the delegation about the Federal Bar Association’s role in the federal judiciary. The Congressional Office for International Leadership, an agency of the U.S. Congress, sponsored the delegation to study the Rule of Law in Kansas from July 15 – 23. The delegation included Ms. Enkhjin Ganpurev, Ms. Grasetseg Erkhembayar, Mr. Radnaabazar Altangerel, Ms. Tuvatseseg Tserendagva, and Ms. Tumembadam Dagva, and was accompanied by U.S. Embassy – Mongolia facilitator, Ms. Nomin Enkhabaatar.

Prior to their arrival in Kansas, the delegation completed an orientation in Washington, D.C. with District of Kansas Chief Judge Eric F. Melgren. While in Kansas, the delegation also met with U.S. District Judge Holly L. Teeter, U.S. Magistrate Judge Teresa J. James, State of Kansas Supreme Court Justice Evelyn Z. Wilson, and Shawnee County District Court Judge Rachel L. Pickering.

The Lansing Kiwanis Club provided host families and coordinated many local cultural outings for the delegates, including a Monarchs baseball game, a KC Current soccer game, a visit to the Harry S. Truman Library, and the KU Museum of Natural History. There were many people that assisted in creating a memorable and educational experience for the delegates including the Kansas Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab, The University of Kansas School of Law, and the Leavenworth County Criminal Justice Center.  We enjoyed meeting our Mongolian colleagues and exchanging information about our respective judicial systems.
